Jen Knott, Founder, CTRS

Executive Director, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Jennifer is a graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Leisure Studies, with a concentration in Recreation Therapy and a minor in Psychology. Jennifer began Rec2Connect in 2009 with 2 clients. She launched the Rec2Connect Foundation in 2014. Her previous experience includes: Classroom Behavior Therapist at Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism, Job coach at Goodwill Industries, Volunteer in Aquatic Therapy at Hattie Larlham in the Physical Therapy Department and Recreation Therapist at the Cleveland Clinic.

Erin Witschey, CTRS

Director of Recreation Therapy Operations, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist

 - Graduate of Ashland University with a Bachelor's of Science in Recreation with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation
 - Previous experience includes: Gross Motor Instructor at Monarch Center for Autism, Retreat Coordinator at Camp Wise, Program Specialist in Aquatics at Easter Seals Camp ASCCA, Associate Program Director at Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA, Recreation Therapy Intern at Friendship Ventures, Outdoor Adventure Instructor at Camp ASCCA

Sarah Thurmond, CTRS

Group Programming Manager, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

- Began with Rec2Connect in 2022
- A graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and a Master of Arts in Recreation and Leisure Studies
- Previous Experiences include: Recreational Therapist working in behavioral health at Cleveland Clinic
Marymount Hospital 2020-2022, graduate student with the University of Toledo, Summer Activity
Coordinator for the Woodlands Foundation, and hundreds of hours of clinical experience with Cleveland
Sight Center Highbrook Lodge, Fresh Air Camp, Josina Lott, Harvey House, and The Laurels of Toledo.

Linden Miller

Marketing and Fundraising Manager

Katelyn Natalie

Inclusive Community Partnerships Coordinator

- Graduate of Ohio State University with a Masters in Adapted Physical Education and from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

- Previous Experience: was an Adapted Physical Education Educator at Geauga County Educational Services Center, Yoga teacher at Evolution Yoga, Assistant Softball Coach at West Geauga High School, Student Intern and Program Director at Dublin Recreation Center, and Counselor and Water Safety Instructor at Kidsports
- Certifications include: National Adapted Physical Education Certification (CAPE), Ohio Professional Teaching Certification, Water Safety Instructor; First Aid; Adult and Infant CPR.

Nate Cunningham

Aquatic Specialist

Social Events Coordinator

-Completing undergraduate degree in Recreation Management with a minor in Disability Studies and Community Inclusion at Kent State University

- Previous Experience: Inclusion Assistant at Beachwood Summer Camps, Volunteer work at Gentlebrook Camps for individuals with developmental disabilities and Joni and Friends Family Camps

Grace Perry, CTRS

Aquatic Specialist

-Graduate of Baldwin Wallace University with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science
-Graduate of the University of Toledo with a Masters in Recreation and Leisure Studies with an emphasis on Recreation Therapy

- Previous Experience: Recreation Therapy internship at Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation & clinical rotations at Southwest General and Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities,
interned and volunteered at GiGi's Playhouse

Stephanie Carroll

 Aquatic Specialist

- Graduate of Ohio state University with a Bachelor's in Education and Masters in Education with a focus in moderate-intensive special education
- Currently works as a Coach with Autism Personal Coach and is an HPC provider through the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities
- Previous experience includes: Intervention Specialist at Bedford Highschool, Intervention Specialist at Glendale Primary School in Grade 3, Private in-home tutor, Tutor at Bedford and Solon City Schools for extended school year program, Intervention specialist at Oakland Elementary

Lewand-Parker

 Aquatic Specialist

- Began with Rec2Connect in 2019
- Graduate of Cuyahoga Community College in Health and Applied Science, and The Ohio State University with a Bachelors in Hospitality Management and a Minor in Business Management
- Previous experience includes: Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant with experience in pediatric, acute, and aquatic therapy, and as an Aquatic Director from 2006 to 2016

Kory Blair Farkas, CTRS

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

- BA Graduate at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio
in 2009 in Physical Education with a focus in Adaptive Physical
Education. She completed her graduate certificate in Aquatic Therapy
from East Carolina University in 2011.

- Over 20 years of adaptive aquatics experience and has coached Special Olympics Swimming since 2004. She is a seasoned American Red Cross lifeguard, water safety instructor and lifeguard instructor as well as a former AAPHERD Adaptive Aquatic Instructor.

- Previous work experience includes
the Pediatric Director of Life Enrichment at Sabal Palms Children's
Center, a long-term care facility for medically fragile infants and
children in Largo, Florida and working as a Recreational Therapist at
Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey on the Infant-Toddler Team. She recently joined the staff at Rainbow Babies Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio working in the CAP Unit.

Brittany Sharp

Aquatic Specialist

- Graduate of Cleveland State University with a Masters of Education in Exercise Science and a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from Kent State University
- Previous experience includes: Exercise Physiologist at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte working with the Medical Referral Program, Exercise Specialist in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Parma Hospital. Personal Trainer
- Certifications include: ACSM Exercise Physiologist, CPR and First Aid

Courtney Carnes

Adaptive Climbing Leader and Adaptive Kayaking Instructor

-Graduate of Mount Mary University with a Master of Science in Art Therapy with a concentration in Counseling

-Previous Experience: Art Therapist at charter school in Cleveland and at R2C, Site and School Supervisor at Ursuline College, High School JV Girls Basketball and Soccer Coach, Volunteer Belayer at Kendall Cliffs Rock Climbing Gym

-Current Certifications/Trainings: CPR/First Aid/AED, Paradox Adaptive Climbing Initiative Course, ACA L1 Kayak Instructor, ACA Adaptive Paddling Workshop (Aug. 2025)

-Currently works as an art therapist at Beyond Words.

Bookkeeping and Payroll Specialist

Jen Szoke

Recreation Therapy Assistant

-Previous Experience: Paraprofessional, Educational Assistant and district Substitute for the past 15 years

Brooke Revetta

Recreation Therapy Assistant

-Began volunteering at Rec2Connect in 2023 and joined the team in 2025.

-Currently attending Arizona State University in pursuit of a Master’s in Positive Psychology. 

-Graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Psychology and minors in American Sign Language as well as Disability Studies and Community Inclusion, Summa Cum Laude.

-Research Lab Manger in the Procedural Cognition and Learning Lab at Kent State University. 

-American Sign Language proficiency level 3.

-Previous Experience includes:

R2C volunteer in hiking club, kayaking, & Metro Parks programs, and Undergraduate Research Assistant in Kent State University’s Procedural Cognition and Learning Lab.
