Frequently Asked Questions

  1. 1
    Who can participate?
Adult Social club is 18+, Teen Social club is open to anyone 13-17.
  2. 2
    Do Parents/Caregivers attend too?
When attending TSC or ASC, we ask that parents remain outside of the room. The goal of this program is to encourage socialization and friendship with peers. When parents or caregivers are in the room, we have found that participants gravitate toward them (understandably so you are amazing!) and are less likely to engage with their peers.
  3. 3
But it's their first time and they are nervous?
The first time a new participant attends, a parent or caregiver may accompany them with prior approval by the group leader. If you are attending the program for the first time with your participant, we ask that your focus remains with them through the session. We have a volunteer process, including a background check and orientation to our policies, if you are interested in volunteering with any of our programs in the future.
  4. 4
What expectations are there for the group?
ASC participants should be able to participate in the group with minimal assistance from staff. For specific expectations on behavior and social skills see our group expectations checklist. This checklist will be completed for each new participant to ensure their needs are met and they can safely participate. If someone requires additional support, our staff will contact you to review options for participation.
